Caretaking Service Standard for high rise buildings
We’re committed to providing our tenants with great services and putting them at the heart of everything we do. This service standard sets out what you can expect in terms of the way we maintain the quality of the area in which you live.
If you live in a high-rise block of flats, you receive caretaking and cleaning services that make sure the communal areas in and around your block are clean, tidy, well-maintained and safe.
We will:
Daily
- Check for any health and safety risks and required repairs in communal areas and bin chutes, and take appropriate action to put things right
- Check communal areas to make sure they’re free of bulky items and waste
- Check for graffiti and if found, report for removal
- Clean the ground floor entrance and lifts
Weekly
- Sweep and mop flooring in all communal areas including stairs and landings
- Wipe banisters, handrails, communal door handles, switches, skirting boards and exposed pipework
- Where possible remove stains from walls
- Litter pick the immediate area outside the block
- Clean bin rooms and chute pans
- Provide a limited weekend caretaking service
- Respond to unexpected issues by completing additional caretaking tasks where necessary to keep the block safe, clean and well managed.
Quarterly
- Deep clean communal entrances
Grounds maintenance
- Hedges are maintained once a year
- Grass is cut 12 times a year
- Flowerbeds and shrub beds are maintained twice a year
- Winter maintenance is done once a year
- Weeds are sprayed three times a year.
We also undertake joint inspections with residents on request, and we’re always looking for residents to get involved and help us improve our service and the local environment. Find out more here.
Please note that Caretaking staff always wear uniform on duty and show their ID if asked.
We ask you to…
- Be respectful to caretaking colleagues working in your block
- Keep shared areas free from rubbish and personal possessions.
- Put all rubbish and litter in the bins or chutes provided
- Use local recycling facilities if you have them at your block
- Not throw rubbish from windows or balconies
- Not smoke in communal areas.
- Remove any mess your dog makes and stop your pets fouling in communal areas.
- Park carefully so that emergency and council vehicles, including refuse trucks, can reach your building.
- Contact your caretaker if you need advice on how to dispose of large bulky items, or visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk to arrange for a bulky waste collection.
- Report vandalism or graffiti to your caretaker or by calling 0115 746 9555.
- Report anti-social behaviour by calling 0115 746 9555
